I’ll be real with you. I never planned to start this show. English isn’t my first language, and for a long time, I thought my accent would keep me from being taken seriously. Cameras made me freeze. My voice made me doubt myself. Every time I tried to speak, I could feel that old fear gripping me again.
And it all changed. What I once tried to hide became the very thing that made me stand out. My accent, my rhythm, my story, that’s what people remember. That’s what connects. Just like Gloria from Modern Family, I learned that what makes you different makes you magnetic.
When I was younger, a teacher told me I’d never make it. I repeated the fourth grade, not because I couldn’t learn, but because I didn’t believe I could. I started small, borrowing a camera and computer from my church just to practice. I worked three jobs to save for my first setup.
Then I gave that money to help someone who needed it more. A few days later, the universe gave me a laptop. Divine timing.
At 14, I edited my first real project. Fast forward today, after 50 talk shows and 12 Telly Awards, I help others turn their fear into fire and their stories into power.
